What about teaching excites you? I love that moment when students finally “get” an idea through critical thinking. It excites me when they finally grasp the content and it all comes clear, and then they can apply it to real-life situations.

What was your “aha” moment when you realized the value of using agriculture as a vehicle to teach science? My “aha” moment came when I spent three months in Sao Paulo, Brazil. As I observed the culture, I saw first-hand the need for all to be educated in proper agricultural techniques due to the fact of increasing populations and a lack of sustainable agriculture. Coming to Global Impact STEM Academy has showed me that agriculture is not just about farming; it’s also the the research and development of new biotechnologies and genetic engineering. Embedding this in my instruction makes students globally aware and caring for future generations.
