What about teaching excites you?

Teaching is an opportunity for me to work with students of various backgrounds. Everyone eats, so agriculture touches everyone. My career affords me the opportunity to teach students about agriculture, the food they eat, and the career opportunities available to them. I get excited about having more educated consumers and I get to be a part of it!

How do you help students make the industry or real-world connection to what they’re learning?

It’s hard for me to expect students to be engaged in their learning if they do not see the real world application. Field trips, guest speakers, and realistic labs all give students a glimpse into the industry and world around them. I most enjoy seeing students really understand a concept through hands-on learning.
