Fun at COSI’s Farm Days

GrowNextGen was part of Farm Days, a special activity in August at Columbus’s COSI (Center of Science and Industry) museum. Kids made soy ink and used it to stamp farm images on a card to take home. About 330 kids participated in the first two days alone!

Farm Days “bring the farm to the city”. Children can climb on tractors and combines, milk a fiberglass cow, make a seed necklace, and do other fun things. The Ohio Soybean Council was one of the sponsors of this activity.

Inks made with soybean oil are made from a renewable resource, are much more biodegradable, and print with brighter colors that don’t rub off. Kids at COSI mixed soybean oil, lecithin, and water to make ink, adding powdered drink mix for coloring!
