Ohio Soybean Council ambassador Dustin Homan was spreading some joy in Crestline, Ohio recently with his presentation “The Joys of Soy”. 40 students enrolled in agricultural education classes at Colonel Crawford High School engineered a renewable plastic made from plants, including soybeans. What’s that plastic for, you ask? Well, the students used it to create bio-based bouncy balls. This activity led into a discussion on the benefits of using agricultural feedstocks in place of petroleum.
Homan said, “We also discussed the thousands of agricultural career opportunities open each year, the importance of polymers to Ohio, and pathways students can pursue for postsecondary training in different agricultural careers.”
