GrowNextGen teacher leader

Beth Bailey

AP/IB Environmental Science and general Environmental Science teacher at Upper Arlington High School

Beth knows a lot about: environmental science, externship

Beth is interested in collaborating with other teachers regarding environmental science education or clubs.

What about teaching excites you?
Teaching environmental science gives me a chance to explain important issues to students on a daily basis. When students tell me that they learned something new and it’s making them change their behavior for the better, or they want to learn more about an issue and may make this field a career choice, it reinforces why I do what I do!

How do you help students make the industry or real-world connection to what they’re learning?
I feel the best way I can help students make real-world connections is to get them out of the classroom, into the field and/or talking with experts in the various areas of environmental science. Some of the best “aha” moments have come from these types of experiences which make huge impacts on students’ lives.
