GrowNextGen industry leader

Elizabeth Toot-Levy

Project Scientist at Geosyntec Consultants

I work with municipalities, agriculture groups, and other clients to address Clean Water Act challenges. This ranges from studying environmental impacts, evaluating research studies and results, assessing environmental regulations for scientific legitimacy to developing integrated plans that help municipalities and wastewater utilities prioritize their Clean Water-related challenges.

What is the benefit of collaboration between industry and education?

I think real world experience is important. Some people learn by listening while others learn by doing. Any time industry can provide students with real-world, hands-on experience it provides an opportunity to balance classroom learning with practical experience.

What value/assistance can you and your company provide to teachers and classrooms as they connect with you?

I can help with lesson contact, Skype sessions, and understanding of real-time water quality issues in Ohio, especially those related to the algae blooms.

Why should teachers connect with you through GrowNextGen?

I am fortunate to be working in the field I studied in school and have had the opportunity to work on a number of interesting projects that relate to the water quality issues that we frequently hear about on the news.
