I love showing students new things, teaching them things that can affect their lives right now and for the future.

What was your “aha” moment when you realized the value of using agriculture as a vehicle to teach science?
This moment occurred when one of the science teachers came to me and said he was starting his soil lessons and the students that had agriculture class already knew everything he was about to teach them. They remembered what they’d learned because they needed it to keep their plants growing and healthy!

How do you help students make the industry or real-world connection to what they’re learning?
I mix in the entrepreneur mind set with many of the things I teach dealing with agriculture. I want them to see they could do many of these jobs for a living or start their own business with a little creativity and work.
