GrowNextGen teacher leader
Dr. Bob Horton
Extension Specialist - Educational Design and Science Education at the Ohio State University
Horton teaches science literacy and works with Ohio 4-H. He is willing to be contacted about and to collaborate on agriscience topics.
What was your “aha” moment when you realized the value of using agriculture as a vehicle to teach science?
This occurred for me when I was asked to demonstrate chemical and physical changes using agriscience examples.
How do you help students make the industry or real-world connection to what they’re learning?
This happens best by engaging learners in Learn-by-Doing instruction, where the instructor becomes the “guide on the side” and the learning happens through self-discovery.
