Kaitlyn Hinds

Administrative Assistant to the Executive Secretary and CEO, American Jersey Cattle Association

Kaitlyn knows a lot about

I serve as the programs coordinator for American Jersey events and work closely with Jersey cattle breeders from across the United States. I also complete daily office tasks to serve the American Jersey Cattle Association and National All-Jersey Inc. Boards of Directors and the American Jersey Cattle Association membership.

I’d be happy to assist teachers by providing background information for lesson content, visiting a classroom, and suggesting possible field trips.

What is the benefit of collaboration between industry and education?

Understanding. There is a communication gap between farmers and consumers about where our food comes from, and bridging that gap is crucial to continue growing a safe and strong food supply. Did you know that everything farmers do are for specific scientific, safety and economic reasons? These are the kind of things consumers need to hear coming from a creditable source – the farmers.

What do teachers and students need to know about your industry?

According to the American Dairy Association Mideast, 97% of dairy farms nationwide are family owned and operated. Daily tasks and important business decisions are made as a family, because these people care about their cows and producing the highest quality product possible. They are leaving a legacy for their future generations while giving producing a quality product on daily basis to support their families. I love what I do on a daily basis because of this - the people. The caring people.
