Tom Dyer

Bioscience Instructor at Delaware Area Career Center

Tom knows a lot about: biotechnology, anatomy, chemistry

What was your “aha” moment when you realized the value of using agriculture as a vehicle to teach science?
So many processes that are used in the many different areas of biotechnology relate well between plants and animals. If students use skills and techniques with one, they can relate it to the other.

How do you help students make the industry or real-world connection to what they’re learning?
Every time we are working through a lab experience, I make sure to relate what we are doing to events, products, and solutions already present in their everyday lives.
