2019 Grain Symposium

Agriculture was the focus at the 2019 Grain Symposium, as farmers and industry experts gathered at the 4-H Center on the Ohio State University campus. The Ohio Grain Farmers Symposium (OGFS) offers farmers throughout the state the chance to hear about the latest agricultural issues and trends impacting their operations.

Director Dorothy Pelanda, Ohio Department of Agriculture, and Dr. Cathann Kress, Dean of the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University welcomed the group. Breakout sessions covered small refinery waivers, changing climate, trade, technology, water quality, farm finance, supply and carry over. The Ohio Soybean Association also held their annual meeting at this time.

We asked several participants, “Why should science students know about ag?” Here are their responses.
