A big presence at SECO!

You couldn’t miss us! GrowNextGen was a sponsor for the 2023 Science Symposium organized by the Science Education Council of Ohio. A special training workshop was held for our teacher leaders on Sunday evening before the event began, and things got even busier the next day.

GrowNextGen teacher leader of the year Shelby Guthrie introduced fellow TL Jamie Brown to the attendees and Brown shared the story of her involvement with GrowNextGen. A teacher at Miami East Junior High, Brown has done a summer externship and been a part of the Ohio Rural Educators Program.

“The experiences I’ve had through GrowNextGen have greatly impacted my classroom and the way I approach my lessons—whether they’re connected to agriculture or not. GrowNextGen is deeply invested in inquiry and problem-based learning—both of which engage students in solving real world issues,” Brown told the crowd.

Our booth encouraged teachers to ‘get their hands’ dirty’ with soil samples and soil texture activities. Each teacher that stopped by heard about our resources and upcoming workshops.

GrowNextGen presented a variety of workshop sessions:
