Ice cream? Yes, please! Making ice cream in a bag was just one of the fun activities in a food science workshop held at Lake Metropark Farmpark. 40 teachers ranging from kindergarten to grade 8 participated as part of a Summit County ESC second year teacher cadre.

GrowNextGen lead educator Heather Bryan and teacher leader Trevor Horn led the group in several hands-on science lessons. The second year focuses on food production, so GNG was invited to share these activities:

The Farmpark staff led the other half of the day. Participants were able to see a group of students from local districts milking cows and a cheese-making demonstration. A maple “sugarist” spoke to the teachers, and many other careers were represented by Metroparks and farm staff.
