I am a science support teacher in an urban school, serving students in grades K-8. I knew the younger students would be thrilled to learn about chicks, but it surprised me how enthralled the older ones were! My students have never been to a farm or raised animals, so this was a new experience for them. For 21 days they eagerly awaited the first chick hatching. When they did, these 14 year olds turned into squealing toddlers, each begging to have a turn, giggling and holding the chicks! They had so much fun they didn’t realize how much they were learning!
