STEM careers and soy-based soap

GrowNextGen Teacher leaders Courtney Bockbrader and Whitney Short recently spoke to FFA members at the Northwest Ohio Women in Agriculture conference. During a breakout session, students learned about the increasing need for qualified workers in agriculturally-related STEM careers. As a hands-on activity, they also had the opportunity to make soy-based soaps. Six Anthony Wayne High School FFA members assisted Courtney and Whitney in helping the other students make soaps. These six students have taken biotechnology/science-based agriculture classes and did an excellent job of teaching the FFA members how to use micropipettes, water baths, and other science equipment.
